In \u0160iauliai city festival DESIGN WEEK LITHUANIA took place for the third time already. The theme of the year \u201eConnections\u201c was represented by promoting collaboration between design and industry sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the most important events of the festival in \u0160iauliai was creative workshop \u201eIndustry trash \u2013 the ideas of unusual design for \u0160iauliai city\u201c, \u00a0initiated by the local coordinators of the festival – Lithuanian design house w\u00e3psva | LT<\/a>. <\/span>Every day we face our wastage. Industry waste age is one of the most important topics today. April 15 w\u00e3psva | LT<\/a><\/span>\u00a0presented a conference which served as an introduction to this workshop during which city designers tried to release wastage of industry to a new life. After the event all the created art work was exhibited in the museum of Photography and was available to buy in virtual auction.<\/span><\/p>\n

Various pieces of furniture, lamps or textile objects were created out of industry waste by the best designers, artists and architects of the city. Passers-by also had a chance to watch how the new items are made. During the workshop architect Rasa Pumputien\u0117 created dog’s cabin from textile pieces, designers Martynas Ol\u0161auskas and Darius Linkevi\u010dius created two huge lamps. Part of materials used during the workshop was provided by local industry companies.<\/p>\n

What is more, comic art exhibition was held in \u0160iauliai city, as well as workshops of floral sculptures and stamping, conference for students \u201eAnimation \u2013 it’s more than just Disney\u201c. Home ideas centre NIC organised more than 10 open events, exhibitions and discussions on the topics of interior design. w\u00e3psva | LT <\/a><\/span>\u00a0design house organised various workshops as well as social event Like a fish in the sea<\/em>.<\/p>\n

During the festival the windows of shops and restaurants located in the main streets of the city became an exposition place for young designers. Passers-by had a chance to check latest collections of clothing designers Ramun\u0117 \u0160erm\u016bk\u0161nien\u0117 and Ramut\u0117 Stak\u0117nien\u0117, new chair model by Dalius Puzinas, works of students of \u0160iauliai Art School and other objects.<\/p>\n

Special DESIGN WEEK LITHUANIA menu was also available at more than 10 cafes and restaurants. <\/span><\/p>\n

The closing evening of the festival took place on the rooftop of the museum of Photography \u2013 a huge terrace turned into a catwalk for a modern fashion show which was followed by the performance of MaNNazz<\/a><\/em> music band.<\/span><\/p>\n
