Showcase JUNGTYS
The creative space of the weaving manufactory exhibits hand-woven works on hand looms and invites you to get acquainted with the old craft of weaving.
We will present the latest works of the JŪRATĖ brand.
Since 2000, JŪRATĖ has been designing and weaving lifestyle accessories based on Baltic aesthetics, quality raw materials and meticulous craftsmanship. Handbags woven from linen and leather in an archaic way are for those who appreciate tradition, durability, uniqueness and want to enjoy quiet luxury.
The theme of the exhibition is CONNECTIONS. It is an invitation to think about the creative legacy and its relevance today, about the creative connections between Vilnius and Tokyo, because during the Design Week, our work will be presented in Japan at ISETAN(Tokyo) and AMBIENTE(Tokyo). We are accompanied by connections, they are diverse, different, connecting and sometimes provocative…
The idea of creating a linen production business was born 21 years ago, when the three founders were frustrated to see Lithuanian goods being sold abroad hiding behind well-known foreign brands. The desire to promote their country and original Lithuanian products inspired the women to register the trademark “Jūratė”. The company tried different business models, improved processes, found its own way, but stayed true to its core principles and created more and more value out of 4 elements: the highest quality natural raw materials (linen, leather, wood), deep craftsmanship traditions, meticulous handmade craftsmanship, and clean design.
The name of the brand was meant to signify the Lithuanian origin, the ruler of the Baltics – Jūratė – to signify the unique, exclusive products, and the legendary love of the Goddess of the Sea and the fisherman – to signify the collection’s stylistics: contrast, provocation, purity. For a long time, Jūratė’s collections were based on home textiles and women’s casual wear made of linen. In parallel, a unique creation has been cultivated – handbags woven in an archaic way from linen and leather, which are making their way into the sustainable luxury market. When we noticed that there was a lot of interest in our products from abroad, we started to participate in business exhibitions in Paris, Frankfurt, Tokyo and elsewhere.
