CONCEPT
PRIZE: FOCUS Therapy Game
Designers: Dovydas Šaltanovas, Agnė Kavaliauskaitė. Supervisor, lecturer: Rūta Mickienė
Vilnius College of Design
FOCUS is a new therapeutic game designed to develop the habit of exercising your eyes. It promotes creativity by creating a distinctive writing font through the use of certain eye exercises. Such exercises on a regular basis are one of the easiest ways to help your eyes. The purpose of this method is not to achieve a cure in itself but is an alternative way to relax and strengthen your eye muscles.
DIPLOMA: E-CHARGE Electric Vehicle Charging Station
Designer: Denis Orlenok
Client: Elseta
E-CHARGE allows you to charge an electric vehicle in any suitable environment. The aesthetic stainless steel design guarantees a perfect fit in public areas. Offices, public car parks and households are the key locations for this charging station. The modular design allows you to select any desired combination.
DIPLOMA: PILK Fluid Meter and Spoon
Designer: Kasparas Starinskas
Vilnius Academy of Arts
The PILK spoon was designed to address the daily challenges faced by blind and partially sighted people in determining when to stop pouring liquids. A float integrated into the handle of the spoon rises with the level of the liquid. As the liquid approaches the rim of the vessel, magnets on top of the float and at the top of the handle snap together. The sound alerts the individual to stop pouring. The spoon hooks over the rim of the vessel, ensuring stability and measurement accuracy. As the float rises, its centre of gravity changes, but the spoon remains stable.
COSTUME DESIGN
PRIZE: THINK TWICE Unique Coat Collection
Designer: Viktorija Bugajenko
Client: Zefyras
THINK TWICE is an exciting line of coats inspired by the films of the director Wes Anderson. The line of one-piece clothing was designed using natural eco leather and scraps of fabric. The fabrics – neoprene net, denim, cotton and tailored fabric – acquire a stronger visual identity, weight and shape when combined with architectural compositions of leather. These coats are designed for the spring and summer season with ergonomic characteristics – they are light and are easy to fold away, taking up little space in your wardrobe (bonus: they’re non-shrinkable).
DIPLOMA: GIRL POWER Clothing Collection
Designer: Pretty Ugly
Vilnius Academy of Arts
GIRL POWER is a creative clothing collection inspired by perceived standards of beauty and the mass media. Teenage girls are affected by the images they see online or on TV and due to social approval they reject their own natural body image. Inspired by beauty, fashion and myself, I’ve created clothing that employs humour to help understand the problem.
DIPLOMA: DUCKTAIL Raincoat
Designers: Virginija Gildutė, Vigita Garbuzaitė / Ducktail Raincoats
This raincoat has a detachable extended back piece that can either be removed or changed with a different-coloured tail. The ‘ducktail’ protects from the rain and also serves as a great style element. The raincoat can also easily be folded into its hood.
FASHION ACCESSORIES
PRIZE: DOOQ Modular Sandals for Women
Designers: Vismantas Kasteckas, Rasa Pekarskaitė
DOOQ is the world’s first fully customizable modular sandals. All elements of DOOQ sandals can be changed, so women can always get new parts and adapt them to changing fashion trends. The detailed design, soft lining and medical grade silicone tube between the toes ensure a perfect fit and are comfortable to walk in. The design is protected by the European Union and the United States.
DIPLOMA: AUKSO SIETELIS Scarf Collection
Designers: Milita Balčaitytė, Elzė Sakalinskaitė / Indigo Textile
Client: Design Fund
Aukso Sietelis (The Golden Sieve) is a collection of seven different scarves, the design of which was inspired by the illustrations and vivid, bright and geometric patterns of Birutė Žilytė from a book of the same name by Latvian author Janis Rainis, published in the 1970s. The collection is produced using digital printing technology on textiles and is designed very much with today’s consumer in mind.
DIPLOMA: EMBRACING TOUCH Jewellery Collection
Designer: Marija Puipaitė
Photographer: Vytautas Narkevičius
Design Academy Eindhoven
This jewellery collection is a continuous project investigating what kinds of forms and functions the human body can provide. Its silver and bronze pieces lie naturally on the body and become something like an extension of it.
FURNITURE AND LIGHTING
PRIZE: PILL Table-Cabinet
Designer: Dalius Razauskas
Client: EMKO
The multifunctional PILL table-cabinet works great in any treatment against clutter and messy environments. It’s a round cabinet that can be fixed to a wall and instantly transform into a fully-functional working place, dressing table, even a bar. Attach it at standard table height, a bit higher or a bit lower – it’s up to you. The shelving system inside is designed to allow the user to easily change and adapt it – it can hold a laptop, files, catalogues, books or any other personal items. It also comes equipped with sockets and the option of integrating LED lights.
DIPLOMA: PLISE Lamp
Designer: Simonas Tarvydas / INDI
Monumental, the Plise lamp is a contemporary version of a classical model. Illusory materials and a deceptive impression of weight are enhanced by the lamp’s substantial format. Unique INDI ‘papercrete’ technology creates the impression of concrete yet maintains a light weight.
DIPLOMA: MUDU Mirror
Designers: Povilas Žakauskas, Povilas Daugis / HEIMA architects
Client: jot.jot
MUDU’s design aims to break the standard misconception that a mirror is just a flat object on the wall. Instead, it employs a sculptural approach, creating a volumetric piece of furniture. The shell of the mirror exploits the possibilities provided by the material Corian – curved lines, a uniform shape and durability. The design concept is based on contrasts – a solid volume against light wireframe, simplicity of shape against attention to detail, a curved shell against straight lines. The two distinct parts of the mirror – shell and frame – meet in an elegant wooden detail that creates the impression of one piece resting on the other.
PRODUCT / INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
PRIZE: EXO x3M Splints
Designer: Gintarė Černiauskaitė
Clients: Vilnius Academy of Arts, Creatus

EXO x3M are the first splints in the world that give the opportunity for performing physiotherapy procedures without having to remove the splint, helping to reduce any post-traumatic complications. They are also extremely light – an arm splint weights 60 grams, a finger splint only 4 grams.

Designers: Saulius Jarašius, Andrius Žemaitis
Client: Rubedo sistemos
Rubedo CVM is a computerized optical vision module consisting of an 8 mm, f/2.2 (38 mm) stereo camera and Nvidia Tegra K1 computer that provides high-definition images and accurate measurements of environment depth and can extract features of interest in real time. Rubedo CVM is significantly cheaper, lighter and less power hungry than the conventional 3D LIDAR technology used today in mobile robot navigation and object sensing.

Designers: Martynas Kazimierėnas, Vytautas Gečas, Paulius Vitkauskas
Client: MARCH
Hey, bird! Looking for a place to stay? Bird BnB is a fold-out birdhouse. Just pull on the ropes, and voila! Place it on a wall, tree or balcony – it looks great in any environment. Bird BnB is designed specifically for smaller birds (sorry, pigeons). It has a spacious wooden roof terrace birdies can enjoy and a rope for chilling out on. Bird BnB comes with full human breakfast leftovers, be it granola, croissant or nachos. So stay as long as you want, but remember – no loud twittering after midnight.
INTERIOR ELEMENTS
PRIZE: IGNORANCE IS BLISS Tableware
Designer: Agnė Kučerenkaitė
Design Academy Eindhoven
Ignorance Is Bliss is a set of tableware, glass plates and table runners created in an effort to find new uses for metal waste. Six different samples of sludge from environments such as a zinc factory, soil remediation and water companies were collected. The designer then experimented with various techniques to use this waste in a transformative manner. Metals have colouring properties when applied to certain materials. Agnė mixed the waste with porcelain clay, glaze, glass and textiles. These pieces will hopefully become a thread connecting past abuse with current reuse, and future (blissful) awareness.
DIPLOMA: NOT TRASH Recycling Bags
Designer: Julius Bučelis
Client: NOT TRASH
We believe that in the future the world will be trash-free. With this project, we want to attract the attention of designers and manufacturers to start designing and making products out of recycled materials. We found out that advertisement board tarpaulins are taken down practically new, so we decided to make recycling bags out of them. The bags are light and can be folded to fit into a backpack.
DIPLOMA: WAVES Dish Collection
Designer: Vita Vaitiekūnaitė
Vilnius Academy of Arts
This collection of dishes has been made using exclusively natural Lithuanian ceramic techniques. A very special effect is possible when hot ceramics are soaked in bread leaven, which makes the dish solid and paints it in different textures and shades. These special dishes are not just regular material objects – they also stand for values shared by traditional crafts in a modern context. This encourages us to encourage responsibility for consumption, highlights the advantages of handmade objects and allows artists to place values in the context of modern applications.
INTERIOR
PRIZE: MARTYNAS MAŽVYDAS LITHUANIAN NATIONAL LIBRARY Interior
Designers: Jokūbas Jurgelis, Laimis Valančiūnas, Jurga Marcinauskaitė / 2XJ architects
Client: Martynas Mažvydas Lithuanian National Library
A new interior design for the Martynas Mažvydas Lithuanian National Library was created in the context of the renovation of the building, which was originally constructed in 1963. Many elements including the interior spaces, structural plan, interior elements and finishing materials are protected by strict heritage regulations. The interior spaces were therefore left essentially intact and many elements and materials were restored or recreated. However, many new functions were introduced within the existing spaces on the six floors of the building: a few hundred workspaces for visitors, spaces for co-working, coffee shops, a conference room, gallery, recording studio, cinema room, arts incubator, daycare centre and more. A lot of attention was put into aesthetic solutions that highlight the relationship between ‘old’ and ‘new’. A modern homogeneous structure of black furniture and other elements was created, which now forms a new identity for the library.
DIPLOMA: RISE VILNIUS Interior
Designer: Ieva Folk
Client: Rise
Rise Vilnius is a home for FinTech start-ups in Vilnius. The office had to represent the Rise idea – to be exciting, innovative and welcoming. Every space was designed to fit the user. There are many small corners where office users can enjoy a quiet moment to concentrate, have a discussion with a fellow start-up or a phone conversation in the phone booths. Interior colours include white walls, a grey ceiling (to match the piping) and black detailing (glass wall, ceiling lights, door handles), but the main feature is oak wood, which makes a big difference – the place feels welcoming and much warmer than a cold, industrial, loft feel.
DIPLOMA: TRIP SHOP Interior
Designers: Laura Malcaitė, Dmitrij Kudin, Karolina Jašinskaitė / Inblum
Client: TRIP SHOP
The interior of Trip Shop reveals the multi-layered character of the city through unfinished, sometimes rough surfaces that are balanced with sophisticated and refined design elements. Seeking to reflect the origins of street culture, the design of this minimalist streetwise fashion and skateboarders’ shop resorts to primary materials. The shop’s attraction points are the rainbow-like galvanized steel hanging sculptures, their form and colour changing according to the viewing angle. The ceiling presents a black box that frames and combines all of the interior elements. It outlines the difference between the perception of physical objects and what is beyond perception.
PUBLICATION
PRIZE: Book Without a Name
Designers: Tadas Kazakevičius, Karolis Rūkas
Clients: Alma Littera, Mykolas Majauskas
This is a book with 12 stories about the experiences of people whose family members have committed suicide. The idea for the name and cover came after reading all of the stories. We chose the colour cyan for the design, which around the world symbolizes support for people who have survived suicide or have experienced a suicide in the family. The main difference between this and other books is that all 12 stories are ‘packaged’ in paper. In other words you have to cut the pages to read the stories. And after reading all of the stories you will have a book with 12 cut pages, open stories and lives you can’t fix.
DIPLOMA: THE INTERACTION OF NUTRITION AND SMELL IN THE DAILY CYCLE, by BARBORA ADAMONYTĖ
Designer: Jonė Miškinytė
Client: Barbora Adamonytė
The crux of the Master’s thesis of Barbora Adamonytė is smell and its interactions with people. Smell is invisible and can only be detected by our noses – this feature is visualised using a white empty space, giving the reader better focus on the text. Attention is paid to the use of typography and quotes.
DIPLOMA: TADA by Algis Griškevičius
Designer: Gytis Skudžinskas
Client: NoRoutine Books
This is a book of photographs taken between 1985 and 1995, documenting the changes Lithuania was going through in winning back its freedom, and which were used as visual materials and inspiration for paintings. Surreal Soviet-era surroundings are revealed in the photographs, but the photographer’s constructive gaze purifies the Soviet architectural landscape towards symmetric compositions, turning them into almost sculptural compositions.
SERVICES AND SOCIAL DESIGN
PRIZE: WHAT’S YOUR PLAN B? Communication Tool
Designer: Austėja Šeputė
Vilnius Academy of Arts
Every year in Lithuania, 30 people die while waiting for an organ transplant. At least 400 people are constantly waiting for a transplant, while around 150 transplants are carried out each year. This topic is relevant not only locally but globally. The message is about the will of a dead person to allow his or her organs and tissues to be used in this way. The question is why family members experience fear, mistrust of doctors and the feeling that they have become owners of the body of someone close to them. This project considers which design tools can be used for the appropriate and acceptable form of communication for a donor’s will. We are always ready to receive, but are we eager to give?
DIPLOMA: CENTRE FOR CIVIL EDUCATION Visual Identity
Designers: Akvilė Paukštytė, Sasha Rogovets, Denis Kuchta, Danutė Kairytė / DADADA studio
Client: ProcessOffice
Project initiator: Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of the Republic of Lithuania
The whole of the display at this centre is based on tactile technologies, interactive games and innovative graphic solutions. The core of its visual identity is the figure of a star reflecting folklore ornamentation. It also becomes a symbol of constant change, where all geometric figures flow into one, creating a unique mosaic. During the creative process, special attention was given to the colours used and the creation of pictograms to express a ‘call to action’ feature. Various geometric patterns also play an important role. Each graphic solution required deep thinking in its execution so that the visuals are easy to understand, inviting, consistent, innovative and original.
DIPLOMA: GARDEN OF EUROPE Infographic Light Installation
Designers: Rūta Ivaškevičiūtė, Jonas Liugaila, Justė Brukštutė
Project initiator: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania
Garden of Europe is a 300 sqm area covered in 28 tall, swaying bouquets of light – each representing an EU member state. The size and height of each bouquet represent the size and population of one of the EU members. Population is a key factor in deciding a country’s voting powers in the European Parliament and EU Council. This infographic light installation is placed proportionally to an actual map of Europe.
VISUAL IDENTITY
PRIZE: BIČIŲ SĄSKRYDIS 7 CONTEMPORARY DANCE FESTIVAL Visual Identity
Designers: Jonas Liugaila, Rūta Ivaškevičiūtė

Ten different posters and a short film was made during the dance session.
DIPLOMA: AUGA Organic Food Packaging
Designers: Justina Steponavičiūtė, Aurimas Kadzevičius
Client: AUGA Group
AUGA is an organic food brand from Lithuania whose produce comes from environmentally friendly farms and fields across the country, making it the country’s biggest organic food producer. While creating the packaging for all of the products we kept in mind one idea – it should be clean and clear, just like the environment where the products grow. The packaging is divided into two parts: sky and ground. The ‘ground’ colour represents the product’s natural appearance and nutritional value, while ‘sky’ is used to represent the brand and product name. At the centre of the packaging is always the main hero – the product. We see a perfect balance surrounding each product.
DIPLOMA: FRESH POST Salad and Juice Packaging
Designers: Dovilė Džervutė, Juozas Baranauskas
Client: Burbuliukas ir Co
This packaging comes in a unique flower blossom shape (‘Fresh’), but when it’s closed it looks like a parcel ready for posting – the paper, shape and postmarks sealed on the package after preparing the salad: best before, ingredients, etc. (‘Post’). Fresh Post salad and juice takeaway packaging consists of a salad box with unique parts for bread, sauceboat, knife and fork and glass of juice, plus the external section. The salad box can be transformed into an individual plate, the exterior packing into a lunch tray. We don’t use glue in any part of the packaging.
