Meeting Polish design

By tradition every year DESIGN WEEK LITHUANIA announces not only the new campaign color (as you may notice – leaf green was the winner this year) and theme (it is „senses“ this time) of the festival, but also – guest country of the year.

Last year Hungary was the lucky one – FISE association of young designers visited the festival and presented two exhibitions of Hungarian contemporary design and jewellery in Vilnius and Telšiai cities. In 2017 Poland will be our special guest – in cooperation with Poland Institute in Vilnius and Adam Mickiewicz Institue in Warsaw various events dedicated to Polish design will be held during DESIGN WEEK LITHUANIA 2017 on May 1-7.

New collaboration was officially announced during the opening of Polish Graphic Signs exhibition at Arka gallery in Vilnius, in late December, but our acquaintanceship with Polish design started way earlier. Last autumn our team had a great chance to visit some famous design events (e.g. Łódź design festival), recently opened modern design centres in Gdynia, Gdansk, Lublin cities and meet an outstanding design scene of Poland. Some of our impressions were recently published in 100th issue of famous Lithuanian magazine CENTRAS.
